Today, I’m announcing an important initiative focused on ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Manorrock project ecosystem. Transparency is a core value in open source, so I want to share these plans early to give everyone in our community the best opportunity to participate in this transition.
Over the years, the Manorrock ecosystem has grown to include numerous diverse projects serving various needs. While this growth has been rewarding, it has also spread maintenance capacity thin. To ensure continued quality and support for these projects, we’re implementing a community-focused sustainability plan.
Starting today, we’re inviting passionate developers to step forward as maintainers for projects in the Manorrock ecosystem. This is your opportunity to take ownership of projects you value and guide their future development.
For most projects: We’re seeking dedicated maintainers who can lead these projects forward. If you’ve been using a Manorrock project and want to ensure its continued development, now is the perfect time to get involved!
For Piranha projects: These will be transitioning to an open source foundation where they can benefit from broader community governance and support. This move will give Piranha projects the foundation they need to thrive in the long term.
For all non-Piranha projects transitioning to new maintainers, please note that these will undergo a namespace change. The Manorrock branding will remain with Manorrock.com. New maintainers will:
We’ll provide guidance and support throughout this process to ensure smooth transitions.
If you’re interested in maintaining a project, here’s how to get involved:
We’re looking for maintainers who are:
Open source thrives when there’s active engagement between maintainers and users. By clarifying which projects have ongoing support, we help users make informed decisions while empowering community members to take ownership of the tools they rely on.
This initiative isn’t about abandoning projects – it’s about ensuring every project has the attention it deserves, either from the original maintainers or passionate community members who want to see it succeed.
In the coming days and weeks, you’ll see:
I believe this initiative will lead to a more vibrant and sustainable Manorrock ecosystem. Some projects will find new life under enthusiastic maintainers, while others may have served their purpose – both outcomes are healthy parts of the open source lifecycle.
I’m excited to see which community members step forward and how these projects evolve under new leadership!
Thank you for your continued support of the Manorrock ecosystem.
