Running JSF 2.x on Tomcat 6.x

Introduction

If you want to run JSF on Tomcat 6.x you have two options available to you to make it work. See below for more information.

Solution 1

This solution assumes you want every application on your Tomcat server to use the same version of JSF.

1. Copy the jsf-api.jar and the jsp-impl.jar into $TOMCAT6_ROOT/lib directory.
2. Restart your server.

Solution 2

This solution assumes you want to be able to make different versions of JSF available to your applications.

1. Copy the jsf-api.jar and the jsp-impl.jar into your $WEBAPP_ROOT/WEB-INF/lib directory.
2. Restart your server.
